Local GEO: get named in AI answers for your city

I work with prompts where location matters: “where to find one in my city”, “near me”, “in my area”. I check whom AI systems name for your category and location, then put your profiles, maps and branch data in order.

When do you need local GEO?

For businesses whose customers come from a specific city or neighborhood.

Your city, someone else’s name

Asked where to go in your city, the model lists competitors and aggregators, and your name is not there.

Branch data does not match

Addresses, phone numbers and opening hours differ between listings, and the model picks any of them.

Profiles are neglected

Your map and directory listings were set up years ago, with the wrong categories and outdated descriptions.

Few reviews, or old ones

Reviews are one of the main signals for local recommendations, and your last one was left two years ago.

No location pages

All locations sit on one page, and no city has a relevant page of its own.

A new location opened

The branch is open, but online it does not exist yet.

What goes into
local GEO?

Local visibility audit
  • Prompts with your city, neighborhood, category and “near me”
  • Whom AI systems name for each location
  • Which local sources they cite
  • Comparison with the nearest competitors for each location
Business profiles and maps
  • Inventory of every existing listing, including ones you did not create: Google Business Profile, Apple Business Connect, Bing Places, Yelp
  • Categories, services, descriptions, photos and hours filled in
  • Duplicate listings for the same location merged
  • Ownership verified where the platform allows it
NAP data
  • One spelling of the name, address and phone number everywhere
  • Address and phone formats checked for each platform
  • Opening hours, including holidays and special days
  • Data checked against the register of canonical facts
Location pages on your site
  • A separate page for every location that matters
  • Unique content: services at that location, team, parking, directions
  • Address, phone and hours as plain text, not an image
  • Internal links between location pages and services
Local directories and citations
  • Directories chosen for your market and category
  • Listings created or corrected in the priority directories
  • Industry platforms where people look for your type of business
  • New mentions tracked
Reviews
  • A strategy for getting genuine reviews from real customers
  • How to ask for a review without being pushy
  • Guidance on replies, including replies to negative reviews
  • Reviews spread across several platforms
Markup and re-check
  • LocalBusiness markup on every location page
  • Markup, visible text and directory listings kept consistent
  • Local mentions monitored after the changes
  • Local prompts measured again

Timeline and format

Questions about local GEO

We have no office and work on site. Does this still apply?
Yes. For a business without a customer-facing address, profiles are set up with a service area – the territory you cover instead of a pin on the map. Google Business Profile supports this directly; for other platforms I find the right setup.
Which maps and directories do you use?
It depends on your country and category. Google Business Profile, Apple Business Connect, Bing Places and Yelp cover most markets; the rest are industry and national directories. We agree the list at the start and keep the ones that get cited in AI answers for your niche.
Will you buy reviews?
No. Platforms remove bought and incentivized reviews and can penalize the listing. The work is about getting genuine reviews: when to ask, how to word the request and how to reply so it sounds human.
How much for several locations?
The first location is from $590 and each additional one from $190, because the facts register, markup and review strategy already exist by then. For a network of five or more locations I quote separately.
Is it enough to fill in the map listings?
No. Listings are one source, but AI systems build their answers from directories, reviews, industry platforms and your site as well. If the data there disagrees, a tidy listing does not solve the problem.
Is this the same as local SEO?
They share the groundwork: profiles, NAP data, reviews and location pages. Local GEO adds a check of what AI systems answer for your local prompts and which sources they quote, so the work goes where those answers come from.
